GripsTrainee Grip

The Trainee Grip is responsible for operating and maintaining the technical/lighting department – building and maintaining all of the equipment on which cameras are mounted for a film/TV production. They must learn on the job through the guidance and support of more experienced film professionals. They must have the ability to understand cameras, willingness to take direction but also to work on own initiative, and the ability to multi-task. They are often tasked with working unsociable hours and carrying out a variety of different tasks according to the requirements of the department and production.

Is this role right for me?

For this role, you will need:

Ability to take direction and to listen and learn.

Enthusiasm, willingness to work hard and be punctual.

An interest in camera and technical aspects of filmmaking.

Ability to be proactive and use own initiative.

Good communication and people skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
